Fingerstyle guitarist

I’m Jappe Govaerts, the guitarist and teacher behind GuitarJoe, based in Antwerp. I play fingerstyle guitar, bringing bass, rhythm and melody together on one instrument. Groove runs through my playing, from my roots in country, folk and blues to my love of flamenco. I enjoy exploring where these influences meet.

Music began for me with listening, trying things out and playing — and that is still how I learn. The same curiosity shapes my teaching. I want to help you connect the sounds you hear with the notes under your fingers, understand how they work together and discover what you can do with them.

I’m developing the GuitarJoe Portal as an online extension of that approach. It brings seeing, listening, understanding and playing together through clear explanations, interactive tools and practical exercises. The goal is to make the guitar less mysterious, so you have more freedom to make music.
